Flooring can change the entire aspect of your house, so if you’re planning a big change this year, start with the flooring. Approach a reputed carpet supplier and they will let you choose from various designs whether you are looking for a personality-packed design for your spacious abode or want layering rugs to create a cozy space. The 2020 trends for carpet follow the same lines as the interior design trends of this year.
Clients interested in sustainability
Jodie Fried, co-founder of Australian rug purveyor Armadillo & Co affirms that 2020 is the year of the most ethically-minded consumer: “In 2020, we will see brands share greater manufacturing transparency as consumers grow increasingly concerned about everything from fair treatment of workers to sustainable supply chains,”.
Natural fibers are preferred instead of the synthetic ones
Andrea Goldman affirms: “Natural fibers like sisal continues to be a trend in rugs, and we’re now seeing variations on the trend, like sisal woven with jute or wool. Also, we’re seeing many clients opt for indoor-outdoor rugs, which have seen a drastic improvement in the quality of late. Now, indoor-outdoor rugs, especially those by Perennials, are as soft and versatile as indoor options.”
Choose neutral carpet colors
Flint gray is the new beige when it comes to carpeting. Nylon is the overwhelming favorite because it is reasonably low-maintenance compared to other types of carpet materials such as wool or polyester. It also offers the most bang for your bucks look that resists spills, dirt, and dander.
Animal print
Animal prints are back, but not in a classic way. Don’t think about those zebra or leopard patterns in their traditional use. Choose a light blue pattern combination and the end result will be classy and modern.
Marocco Styles
Approach an experienced carpet supplier and ask them to provide something in Moroccan styles if you have a love for Morocco-inspired designs. They are not very expensive, though the design is elegant and casual. You can even create a patched rug by buying two heavy Ralli blankets. Not only will you enjoy putting two blankets together but also change them if you ever feel that the combination has become boring.
Patterned rugs
Choosing a patterned rug in your house requires a high degree of courage because you break the golden rules of decorating. But if chosen right, your living room will surely stand out. Usually, it is best to balance a large-scale print in a space with a few pint-size ones, but you can successfully pair a bold and trendy floral carpet with a striking swirl print sofa.
A mix of old and new
Trends come back for sure. What’s old is new again when it comes to rugs. Chad Stark, senior vice president of Stark Carpet affirms: “I think in 2020, we’re going to see a big shift back towards more structured rug designs that are traditionally inspired but used in contemporary settings,”.
What trend will you adopt in the new year? Marroco, patterned a mixture of old and new? Which style represents you the best?
