Designing a Garden You Want to Spend Time in

Designing a Garden You Want to Spend Time in

When we’re looking for a new home, a nice garden is at the top of many of our wish lists. People with children, or who are hoping for children in the future, want somewhere that their kids can play safely in. Young professionals want somewhere to work or unwind on a summer’s day. Environmentalists want somewhere to grow their produce and compost. Older families want to enjoy gardening in their retirement. A garden has something for everyone and can generally be whatever you want it to be. Keep reading to find out several tips to start designing a garden that you want to spend time in.

However, despite the best of intentions when we move in, far too many of us are guilty of neglecting our gardens, failing to enjoy them, or barely spending any time in them at all. It’s a waste. Not just of this fantastic outdoor space, once packed with opportunity, but also of the money that you no doubt spent securing a property with a highly sought-after garden. So, instead of ignoring a garden that you don’t love, why not turn it into a space that you want to spend more of your time in so that you can start reaping the rewards of having a garden at home? Here’s a look at some of how you can do just that.

Modernizing Your Yard: 7 Garden Edging Options to Explore

Keep it Simple

You might have had big dreams for your garden, but the truth is that most of us start to avoid them when they become hard work. So instead, if you aren’t a gardener, keep things simple with a neat lawn, easy to clean patio and a few potted plants. Make it pleasant but easy to care for, and you are less likely to avoid it.

Add Seating

Seating is a crucial element of a garden if you want to spend a lot of time in it. A stylish but practical garden table, gives you options and different ways to enjoy your garden. Add chairs for the garden and suddenly you’ve got a workspace, an eating area, somewhere to read, and a chance to entertain.

Create an Outdoor Workspace

If you work from home or spend some of your time working at home, you’ve probably always wanted to be able to sit and work outdoors in the sunshine. However, this doesn’t often work. Gardens aren’t comfortable, the sun means screen glare, and you might not have what you need. If you want to work outdoors, create a specific workspace with a comfortable chair and table, shade, and anything else that you need to do your job in comfort.

4 Things You Should Know About Fence Installation

Paint Your Fences

Painting your bright fence colors is perhaps the easiest and most effective way to cheer up your garden. Choose colors that you love but might not usually be associated with garden fences for a bright and happy space that improves your mood and makes you want to stay outside.

Designing a garden that you can enjoy and that you long to spend time in doesn’t have to mean creating a vast expanse of luscious lawns, colorful plants, and peaceful water features. Many people take great pleasure from much smaller, simpler spaces. Work with what you have to design the right garden for you and your family.
